- View of the Amsterdam gate from the north, seen from the inner courtyard of the castle. The road leading from the gate is now (in 2002) named Jalan Tongkol.
- To the left an execution; hence the huge crowds about the scaffold. Some rich observers view the spectacle from the comfort of their carriage. In the foreground sellers of snacks and drinks are shown.
- The alcoves flanking the entrance hold statues of Mars and Minerva. The clock over the gate shows a time of ten past six.
