- View of Buitenzorg, anno 2002 Istana Bogor.
- Two villas, each measuring 30 x 15 metres, can be discerned behind a small fort, Fort Philippine, which housed a garrison of 16 soldiers.
- It was the original intention that the two wings should be linked by a central building, but in the event none of the 18th century owners carried this out.
- The villas were most likely built on commission for governor general Van der Parra. A villa had been built earlier by governor general Van Imhoff, but this was destroyed in the war against the king of Bantam in 1752.
- The governor general lived on the right, to the left was a church.
- In Rach's time the estate comprised 236 square kilometres.
