- The plate shows the siege of the fort of San Sebastian in Mozambique by Paulus van Caerden in 1607.
- This attack was unsuccessful, with a second attempt being made a year later under the command of Pieter Verhoeff. However the VOC didn't succeed in capturing the fort then either.
