This VOC post in Java lay at the mouth of the Cimanuk River and was staffed by employees who supervised and monitored several warehouses where the harvests of grain and rice were stored. Its situation on the river meant Indramajoe was surrounded by fertile land. In the 18th century no more than four VOC employees were stationed there. At one point the records refer to the presence of a raft builder in the service of the Company.
