Pegu is the capital city of the region of the same name in the south of Burma. During the VOC era Pegu was a mighty kingdom. Here the VOC maintained a comptoir, which was however abandoned relatively quickly. The local traders flocked to Siriangh, a little further south, where the VOC subsequently opened a post. The Company frequently sailed to Pegu from Coromandel.
