Manicoorde

India

Manicorde was one of the many small military outposts maintained by the VOC along the Malabar Coast. It was situated six miles south of the city of Cochin and was habitually staffed by a couple of VOC employees from Cochin. The VOC employees on the Malabar Coast were often of the Christian faith and hailed from the region between Cochin and Manicorde. They were taken on as soldiers and as messengers.
