Map of Asia
Visscher II, Nicolaas
Map of Asia taken from the Atlas van der Hagen, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, The Hague Part 4.
Top right a commission from Nicolaas Visscher to Hendrik Spiegel.
The cartographic impression of the Asian continent remained largely unchanged throughout the 17th century. This continental map by Nicolaas Visscher II (1649-1702) was similarly based on late 16th century renditions in the atlases of Gerard Mercator (1512-1594) and Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598).
