Map of Sir Rubsina's plantation

Eyden, Jan Marini van der / Palm, Augustus

Title Leupe: Kaart van eenige stukken land, gelegen in de rivier Cottica, links in het afvaren, tusschen het 3e en 2e tabbetje.

This map demarcates the plantation of Sir Rubsina (coloured red and green) on the south bank (above on the map) of the Cottica river.

The survey was made on request of Monsieur Barend Adriaans Rubsina to measure his new piece of land (coloured green, between the letters B, C, G and H) which he obtained on 13 August 1725.

His first piece of land (coloured red) was bought by Rubsina from Adolf Gerold Stockerd a few months earlier on 1 March 1725.

The red piece of land was measured by Augustus Palm in 1716 and his map is replicated here with addition of the new piece of land which turns out to measure 1000 Surinamese acres (430 hectares).

The Cornehebo as well as second and third Tappetje Creeks plus the house of Crijlanb are depicted to the north of the plantation (below on the map).

The map was signed by the surveyor on 2 February 1716 and ratified on 20 December 1730.

Scale of 100 Chains of 66 Rhineland feet = 105 ‘strepen’.
