Map of Willemstad and immediate environs

Schrijver, Cornelis

Title Leupe: Plan van het fort Amsterdam. De Willemstad aan de St. Anna-baai, de Binnenbaai met opgave der diepte enz.

Considering its style and a number of elements in its representation, this anonymous general map of Willemstad and its immediate environs was drawn by Cornelis Schrijver as a supplement to the report of his tour of inspection in 1737. The drawing of Willemstad and Fort Amsterdam closely corresponds to Schrijver’s general plan of the area, which comes from his report about the fortification of the island of Curaçao in the Archive of the States-General in the Netherlands National Archives under number 1.01.02 inv. 9218, map 1. The definitions in the legend are the same as on that map.

North is up.

Scale-bar of 500 Voet = [approximately 1 : 1,350].
