Map of lots north of the Tapuripa Canal

Böhm, Johann Gottfried Rabanus

Title Leupe: Generale schetskaart van de te vergevene agterlanden, ten behoeve der Plantagies, geleegen langs het gedolven Canaal van Tapoeripa, ter linkerhand in 't opvaren.

This draft map shows the lots to the east of (right on the map) the Klein Matapica (vertical blue line in the middle of the map) and to the north of Tapoeripa (horizontal blue line right on the map) Canal.

This map covers approximately the same area between Warapa Creek and Mot Creek as the map made almost forty years earlier on VEL1861 and was intended to give an overview of the new, additional parcels to be assigned north of the existing plantations on the northern side of the Tapoeripa Canal.

Most of the rest of the local coastal region had been reclaimed, as far as the mouth of the three canalized creeks, in the intervening years.

Most lots are thus already designated and measured and emphasis is instead put on the hinterlands which can still be attached to the existing plantations.

These hinterlands are measured in Surinamese acres (0,43 hectares per acre).

The map was signed on 12 Juli 1794.

A variation is available: VEL1875A.

Scale of 190 Chains of 66 Rhineland feet = 135 ‘strepen’.
