Paarl

South Africa

The Paarl area was a large community where many colonists chose to settle, in places such as Tulbagh, Swellendam, Stellenbosch and Hottentots Holland. Agriculture was the single most important activity, for the region served as a source of food supply for the community in Cape Town. Over the years Paarl became known for its wines. A literary source identifying this location as a VOC post has not yet been traced. The images of this location featured in this programme currently serve as source.
