Phalta

India

Falta, a tiny village with just a few huts, was situated some 20 miles south of Chinsura. It functioned as a station for incoming and departing ships. Because Chinsura was only accessible for smaller ships, it was necessary to anchor the large East Indiamen in Bernagore or at Falta. The compilers of this database have not as yet come across a source in the literature that identifies this location as a VOC post.
