This river, which carries the same name to this day, was so called because it fed into the Breederivier and thus never came to an end. During the 18th century free burghers settled in the smaller VOC posts such as 't Ziekenhuis, Tijgerhoek and Zoetemelks Valleij. The Company's land muster-rolls fail to record these posts separately.
