Tiku

Indonesia

Ticous lay north of Priaman on the West Coast of Sumatra. The VOC set up an office here around 1667 after abandoning its post on the island of Tjinko, also known as Poulo Tjinko. Ticous was a centre for the pepper trade. The VOC supplied cloths and 'lijnwaten' or cotton textiles, in exchange for the pepper.
