Rach, Johannes

View of the roadstead at Batavia, seen from Slingerland.

The long shadows, cast from the North, suggest that it is morning.

The beach was formerly known as Slingerland, anno 2002 it is known as Ancol Dreamland park.

From Batavia you can see the cuppola of the church (anno 2002 known as Taman Fatahillah) and the flagpole of the shipyard (now the VOC Galangan Cafe on the Jl. Kakap).

A fleet of around 15 East Indiamen lies at anchor in the roadstead.
