Map of Hamburgh plantation

Freuytenier, Jan / Boogaert, Cornelis

Title Leupe: Kaart van de Plantagie Hamburg, gelegen tusschen de Plantagien Coertvlugt, Rustenburg, Sardam en Pinoribo.

This map shows the Hamburgh plantation (red borders, indicated with the letters A-H) on the south bank (above on the map) of the Cottica river.

The survey was made on request of Sir Jacobus Lemmeris, "council member of the Noble Court of Police", and landowner.

This piece of land turns out to measure 1500 Surinamese acres (645 hectares).

The map was based on a draft made by Cornelis Boogaert on 29 April 1698.

The lot lies east of the Sardam plantation, west of the Goertvlugt plantation and north of the Rustenburg and Sinoribo plantations.

Dwellings are drawn on the northern part of the plantation.

The map is signed by the surveyor on 2 March 1734 and ratified on 31 January 1736 in Paramaribo.

Scale of 100 Chains of 5 ½ Rhineland rod = 128 ‘strepen’.
