Reynet, J.

Title Leupe: Kaart van een stuk land, gelegen tusschen de Plantagien Kleyne Hoop en Frederwout (later Nieuw Mocha.).

This map shows the lot belonging to Paul David Gebert (red borders, indicated with the letters A-D) situated north of the Cottica River, which would later become the Nieuw Mocha plantation. (See VEL1947).

The survey was requested by Sir Paul David Gebert after he obtained the land on 12 May 1721.

The lot turns out to measure 500 Surinamese acres (215 hectares).

The land of captain Hendrik de Freder lays to the west (to the left on the map) of the lots, and the land of Arthur Valtelen lays to the east of it (to the right on the map).

The selection of posts of measurement in the mangrove is explained in the notes to the right of the map which is complemented by illustration with green border below on the maps.

The map was signed by the land surveyor on 18 September 1731 and ratified on 28 December 1731 in Paramaribo.

Scale of 110 Chains of 66 Rhineland rods = 110 ‘strepen’.
