Map of lots between the coast and the Cottica River

Böhm, Johann Gottfried Rabanus

Title Leupe: Kaart van eenige stukken land, gelegen, langs het gedolven kanaal tusschen Post Oranien en Vreedenburg (beide oevers).

This map show part of the area between the sea coast and the Cottica east of the Tapoeripa Canal, most of which was only reclaimed after c. 1785.

The survey was requested by D. van der Meij to claim a piece of blaka-beri forest (indicated with the letters A-D) laying at the newly planned canal.

This piece of land turns out to measure 500 Surinamese acres (215 hectares).

The survey is part of a larger project which is depicted on VEL1954 by the same land surveyor.

The land surveyor signed the map of 11 August 1794 and his survey was ratified that same day.

Scale of 140 Chains of 66 Rhineland feet = 175 ‘strepen’.
