Map of lots between the coast and the Cottica River

Böhm, Johann Gottfried Rabanus

Title Leupe: Kaart van de Plantagien, gelegen tusschen den post Vredenburg en de Plantagie Johanna.

This map show part of the area between the sea coast and the Cottica east of the Tapoeripa Canal, most of which was only reclaimed after c. 1785.

The survey was requested by Sir C. Djeranger after he received the land (indicated with the letters A-D) on 24 June 1802.

This piece of land turns out to measure 535 Surinamese acres (230,05 hectares).

The survey is part of a larger project which is depicted on VEL1954 by the same land surveyor.

Note the lots east (above on the map) of the canal are all cultivated, yet most on the west (below on the map) remain unoccupied.

The land surveyor signed the map of 9 August 1802 and his survey was ratified on 9 August 1802 in Paramaribo.

Scale of 150 Chains of 66 Rhineland feet = 185 ‘strepen’.
