Inhabitants of the Cape of Good Hope.

The first sea voyage to India, led by Cornelis de Houtman, made landfall in the region of what is now known as Mossel Bay. They were in search of refreshment, but it transpired that little fresh provisions were available.

This illustration strongly resembles Koninklijke Bibliotheek, inv. nr. 1700 C2, before p.7.
