Gate fort Victoria, Ambon. In the architrave the name 'Nieuw Victoria', as the fort was rebaptized after the renovation of 1775. Below the year MDCCLXXV (1775), the VOC monogram and the coat of arms of the Dutch Republic. On either side of the gate a pair of pilasters, flanking the coats of arms of the cities and provinces of the six VOC chambers. In the pediment at the top of the gate a medaillon, showing a VOC ship and the words 'ita relinquenda ut accepta' ('As it was received, so it shall be passed on.')
