A city map of Batavia in bird's eye view with the sea shown left. Top the title is depicted in the scroll, to the right the key and bottom an inset showing a view of the city.

In the sea various vessels are depicted flying the Dutch flag. The map shows buildings, forts, houses, canals and gardens.

Flanking the scroll on the right is a lion with a scimitar bearing aloft a shield showing the image of a sword.

The inset shows Batavia with mountains in the background and, positioned prominently in the foreground, the castle. Topping the inset is a scale expressed in Rhenish Rods.
