Kisar

Indonesia

In 1668 the VOC built a small fort by the name of 'Delft' or 'Delftshaven' on the island of Kisser, eight miles east of Timor. Dr F.W. Stapel, who edited Pieter Van Dam's description of the VOC and published it in 1927, refers to the 'Mestiezen of Kissar'. This was a population group on the island whose ancestors were VOC employees who married Kissar women.
