Lar

Iran

From 1631 the VOC maintained a house in Lar. This base fell under the VOC's Persian section. Lar was used as an oasis by caravans travelling from Esfahan to Gamron (known today as Bandar Abbas). Unlike Gamron, Lar had enough water and grass for the camels. Company officials often stayed here for several months, until the VOC ships arrived at Gamron. Due to the hot and arid climate, living conditions were severe.
