Project plan for the extension of Willemstad and fort Amsterdam

Title Leupe: Plan van het fort Amsterdam en de Willemstad.

This project plan for strengthening the defences of Willemstad and Fort Amsterdam is based on the 1741-1742 primary surveys, basic maps and proposals by the military engineers Carel Gustaaf Schrijver and Godfried Carel Esdré. The profile shows relatively modest new fortifications on the eastern side of the fort and the existing town only. The range of fire from the bastion and the two projected walls is just wide enough to pass by the 'brickwork graves' to reach the sea.
