Ocean view of the fortifications of the city of Surat.

In the foreground are three East Indiamen, several smaller sailing vessels and a rowboat. To the right of centre big fishes are depicted.

The cannon are just visible on the parapet of the fort.

Cf Rijksmuseum, inv. nr. RP-P-1907-2820 and Koninklijke Bibliotheek, inv. nr. 388A4 part 1, after p. 28.
