De Groene Eylanden, door le Maire alsoo genaemt, om dat ze Groen en Schoon waeren, zy vertoonen zich aldus, als gy het Oostelyk Zuyden en het Westelyk Zuyt West van u hebt 2 Mylen.

Aldus vertoont zich st. Jans Eyland, als gy het Noorden 2 Mylen van u hebt.

Aldus vertoont zich de Cust van Nova Guinea, als gy'er by langhs Seylt. Dit Land is genaemt Cabo de Santa Maria.

Abel Tasman, but also Willem Schouten and Isaac le Maire thought that these archipelegos were situated off the coast of New Guinea. But they were actually situated close to the island now known as New Ireland. Ontong Java is still known as such, the Groene eilanden are today known as the Green Islands, and Marken is now known as Takuu.

The illustration of the Groene eilanden depicts several vessels heading for the islands.
