Title Leupe: Plan of plattegrond van de fortress Nieuw Amsterdam, met derzelver Kostgronden en nieuw geprojecteerde werken.

This map shows how the fortress Amsterdam and the redoubts Leyden and Purmerend are capable of keeping out hostile ships. Measurements of the distances between the fortification works and the range of fire from their cannons are indicated. In addition, the location and range of fire of defensive ships are depicted.

An elaborate index lists the function of all buildings inside of the Amsterdam fortress.

The direct environment of the fortress is deemed impenetrable.
