Nicolaas Visscher dedicated the map to Gerardus Schaep, master of Kortenhoeff, ambassador for the Republic in Sweden and Denmark.

This chart closely resembles Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, Vienna, inv. nr. Van der Hem 36:02 and Van der Hem 37:02. Only the colouring is different.
