Elsjes Coraal

Elsjes Coraal, later also known as Elsieskraal, was established as a VOC post around 1688. It boasted a pen for as many as 4,000 sheep. Pieter van Dam, who recorded the history of the Company around 1701, notes that in the year 1693 Elsieskraal employed just two men and had 765 head of livestock.
