Design for the new garrison quarters at Fort Nassau

Knapp, Jan Daniël

Title Leupe: Plans, platte gronden, opstanden voor gebouwen in het fort Nassau.

This unsigned sketch for a new garrison at Fort Nassau was part of the total renovation of the fort between 1735-1740. On the basis of the handwriting, the sketch can be attributed to the engineer and surveyor Jan Daniel Knapp. It was sent to the Republic in 1739. This are three profiles of the building which clearly show its mutliple function ranging from quarters to offices to a praying room.

Origin: book of letters number 15 on page 45A.
