Map of several lots located next to the Nieuw Amsterdam Fortress

Gardin, P.

Title Leupe: Kaart van eenige landen, gelegen zoowel aan de Commewyne en Suriname, ter wederzijden van het fortres Nieuw Amsterdam..

This map shows several lots laying on both banks of the Commewijne river; closeby the Nieuw Amsterdam fortress.

The surveyor P. Gardin was tasked to measure the land by the Governor-General J.J. Mauricius.

Most of the lots are not assigned to owners yet and the survey serves to determine their value.

Six lettres (A to E) and four numbers (23-26) inside the lots refer to an index depicted on the right side of the map.

This index describes the extent and relative location of the lots, one of these (23) is granted to the Governor-General and another serves as a landfill.

The land east of the displayed lots (left on the map) belongs to Brugman Broer.

Both the Suriname and Commewijne river as well as the Nieuw Amsterdam fortress and the nearby landfill (different from the lor mentioned earlier) are drawn.
