Portrait of Stephano Versluys with Colombo in the background.
Versluys (Middelburg 1694-1736 Batavia) served as governor of Ceylon from 1729 to 1732. With his staff he points to a map of Ceylon, which lies before him on the table. In the background the viewer can discern the governor's residence on Colombo.
