View of the royal court in Isfahan.

't Konincklycke Hof van Persien in Ispahan.

Top right: No: 15.

Key: 1. Engelse Logye / 2. Metzid of Tempel / 3. Hollantse Logie / 4. Doodts Hoofden Tooren / 5. Maydan of marckt / 6. Vrouwen Tempel / 7. 't Hof van Persien.

The plate is taken from the volume 'Drie aanmerkelyke reizen, door Italien, Griekenland, Lyfland, Moscovien' by J.J. Struys from 1742, Amsterdam University, inv. nr. O 78 138 part I, after p. 337. It has however been signed by Johannes Kip, who died in 1722. This print must therefore have originated before 1722.

It is unlikely that the Dutch lodge in Isphahan would really have been as big as shown here. The building itself also appears an unlikely VOC lodge.

Please contact Universiteitsbibliotheek / Universiteit van Amsterdam for reuse and copyrights.
