Plan for fort Amsterdam

Hebbeling, A.

Title Leupe: Tekeningen en plans van het Gouvernementsgebouw op Curaçao in het fortres Amsterdam, Blad 4: Platte Grond.

As was the case with many Dutch colonies in the West Indies, a great number of suggestions and plans for the improvement of the defence of Curaçao were made in the course of the 18th century. These plans have only very partially been executed, but as a consequence a large number of site maps and plans of fortifications and strategic locations on Curaçao have survived. This series, VEL1484-5 and 2147A-G, was made shortly after the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763). A ground plan and index of the fort is drawn here.

Scale-bar of 1 Rhineland feet = 12 duijmen.
