Pieter van Dam, who recorded the history of the VOC around 1701, refers to a comptoir of the Company in Sindh on the mouth of the Indus River. The comptoir bought up all manner of textiles. Dutch contacts with Sind took place in the year 1632 and in 1757. Subsequently and for a short time, from 1660-1662, there was a trading post established.
