Fort

Keeten, fort

The Redoubt De Ketting or Keten (Chain) was one of the stone redoubts that were built in 1751 because of the rebellion in Banten (1750-1754). The pentagonal redoubt controlled the road from Batavia to Tangering.

In 1811 it was demolished by order of Governor-General Herman Willem Daendels (1808-1811)

There are no visible remains of the redoubt. On the modern map of Jakarta 2016 he redoute would have stood on the South side of Jalan Tanjung Kyai Tapi near Tanjung Geding.
