Titel Leupe : Kaart van een stuk land, gelegen tusschen de Plantagie Clevia en de Societeits Kostgrond. (Sociëteit van Suriname).

This map shows a piece of land lent to Doctor Herbert by Governor Pieter Albert van der Meer.

Less than a quarter of the five hundred Surinam acres (c. 530 modern acres) is described.

Its western side (lower side of the map) consists of swampland adjacent to the Surinam River.

Behind the swamp, coffee and other crops are grown on dry lands which were partially drained.

The accommodation of Doctor Herbert is built on the western coffee plantation itself.

Herbert’s estate lays south of the land belonging to the Society of Suriname and north of the Clevia coffee plantation owned by Carl Otto Greuts (see VEL1791).

-The indication of the dock of the Society of Suriname suggests the swamps of Doctor Herbert’s estate prevented direct docking and made use of the Society’s port necessary.
