Map of the land belonging to Anna-Marie Zwart

Freuytenier, Jan

Title Leupe: Kaart van eenige landen, gelegen tusschen Perica en Cottica. ._

This map shows a piece of land (indicated with the letters A-D) belonging to the widow Zwart which lays south of the Cottica river. -The survey was requested by Mrs. Anna-Marie Zwart to measure the land laying behind her plantation.

Her late husband acquired the land and the survey is meant to reinforce mrs. Zwart's claims on the land as his heir.

The land turns out to measure 2081 Surinamese acres (894,83 hectare)

The Hamburgh plantation lies to the north (to the right on the map) of this, the land of Sir Pedij and Gerbrant van Sandijk as well as the Sardam plantation to its west (above on the map), and the land of the widow of Sir Saffo to its east (below on the map).

An explanation of earlier transactions of the depicted piece of land is given in the annotations in the centre of the map.

The map was signed by the land surveyor on 17 November 1731 and ratified on 18 February 1732 in Paramaribo.

Scale of 100 Chains= 138 ‘strepen’.
