Plan for a redoubt at the Berbice River estuary

Anoniem / Anonymous

Title Leupe: Plaan en profil van het Eerste project, om een gefortificeerde batterie te bouwen in de geoctroyeerde Colonie de Berbice.

This is a floor plan for a redoubt on an unknown location in the Berbice River’s estuary. The plan appears to have been drafted simultaneously with the reconstruction proposals of Fort Nassau and the Brandwagt redoubt, in fact it might even be part of it. Hence, it most likely dates from the second half of the eighteenth century.

Next to a battery of four cannons, the redoubt also includes accommodation for troops and officers as well as an armoury.

A profile has been drawn at the bottom of the floor plan.

Scale-bar of 160 ? = 245 ‘strepen’.
