Text on a field pharmacy chest

Billing, G.W. / Heysler, J.D.

Title Leupe: Teekening van een Veld apotheek.

This field pharmacy chest can be used by surgeons during campaigns 'as long as the negroes carry it on top of their head through swamps, forests and mountains…' Marshal G.W. Billing and surgeon J.D.Heysler suggests the chest be built firmly using leather and planks, because the carriers tend 'to fall over and thereby not only break the chest but also the glasses and medicine which greatly troubles the troops.' The bottles also need to be ground well to ensure they will not break easily. In the text, the men describe how to arrange this chest optimally.
