This watercolour drawing shows the views of Fort Nassau from the south. From this illustration it can be deduced that the outer side of the walls and the four half-bastions forming the corners of the renovated fort were all covered with wooden palisades, as, according to engravings in Hartsinck’s Beschryving, was the case for the earlier fortifications. See also the ground plans on VEL1661A-B.
