Conquest of Cochin by the Dutch

This illustration, a bird's eye view of the Malabar coast with Dutch ships, is part of a pamphlet narrating the history of the conquest of Cochin.

To the left of the title an illumination with two coats of arms.

The city of Cochin is shown on the coast, being attacked with artillery on all sides. In the background a range of mountains together with the text: Cust of Cormandel.

Along the coast several topographical names are listed including Ceylon.

Below the text on the illustration the following note:Pieter Arentsz. in de Beurs-straet, 1663.
