Vannarponai

Sri Lanka

The natives of Vannarponai village processed cotton. They dyed cotton fabrics with the plant dye known as 'saeye' that was readily available in northern Ceylon. The dye was reddish brown in colour. This village, too, had its own Protestant church. The compilers of this database have not as yet come across a source in the literature that identifies this location as a VOC post.
