Plan for a model village at the border of Guyana and Suriname

Bermond

Titel Leupe: Plan d' une Village, Eglise, Presbytère, Magasin, Corps de garde etc, et Plantage de 100 ackres pour une famille.

This is a project plan for a village with a church, depot, guard house and lots of 43 hectares each. It relates to the plans of Bermond to build network of roads between the Commewijne, Cottica, Saramacca, Para and Suriname Rivers. The print must hence be understood as providing a model for the villages which Bermond envisioned to be constructed next to these roads after the Marrons and deserters were driven from this region. It is unknown whether the roads or villages were ever build.
