Titel Leupe: Kaart van eenige plantagien, gelegen aan beide oevers van de Commewyne, tusschen Bruynsburg en Utrecht.
This map is a copy of a map from De Lavaux made on 28 Mei 1732, produced by the surveyor N. Goetzee on 2 July 1777, most likely to measure the pieces of land depicted once more.
De Governor-General Carel Emilius Henry de Cheusses tasked De Lavaux to measure lands belonging to Sir Willem de Bruijn and his heirs.
These lands lay on both shores of the Commewijne River.
The borders of the first lot are indicated with the letters s Ba, AU; their extent turns out to be 352 Surinamese acres (151.36 hectares).
The second piece of land is granted to Sir de Bruijn via a warrant and indicated through the letters Ba, Ca, Ra, and Bg.
It turns out to be 500 Surinamese acres (215 hectares).
Finally, the heirs of de Bruijn own 1000 Surinamese acres (E,D,C,F,G,H,I,K; 430 hectares) of land
De Lavaux’ map is officially ratified in 1732.
Scale of 100 Chains of 66 Rhineland Feet = 125 ‘strepen’.
