Map of North and South Carolina

Mouzon, Henry / Sayer, Robert

Title Leupe: An accurate Map of North and South Carolina, with their Indian Frontiers etc.

Map of the Carolinas which was used by the American, English as well as French armies during the American Revolution. The geographical details on the map give an excellent overview the roads and waterways from the coast up to the western regions of Tidewater, Piedmont, and Back Country. The map was released at the start of the Revolution, only five weeks after the Battle of Lexington and Concord, and was therefore greatly important in the first stages of this war. It was distributed most widely as part of Thomas Jefferys' American Atlas from 1775.

Scale-bar 60 English miles = 175 ‘strepen’.
