The company did not maintain a fully-fledged trading post here, but was represented by a number of intermediaries. However the VOC did accept the gift of a building where wine could be made. Most of the intermediaries were Armenians who bought the coveted attar of roses, or 'Shiraz wine' here. This arrangement continued until around 1730.Trade in Shiraz came under the Persian directorate. European VOC employees in Gamron would often stay in the relative cool of Shiraz during the summer months.
